I recently updated my Moto G 1st Gen to Lollipop. I now find that the vibrate function does not work at all. Tried it for all possible settings, phone on ring plus vibrate, phone on no ring (vibrate only), vibrate on touch etc. but it is not vibrating in any of these.
I have tried shut down and reboot, reboot in safe mode and clear cache (as advised in this Forum). Any ideas short of factory reset. If factory reset is next option to try, is there a least disruptive way to do this (e.g. backup of all apps and settings, factory reset then restore). Any advice gratefully received. Thanks Rog -

Probably, you have to backup the phone and reset the phone.
For apps, you can try to use Helium app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup&hl=en
For SMS and call log, you can find apps in Play store.
For photos, you can back them up to Google+ (with Photos app)
Contacts, gmails are always synced with your Google account. Backup is not necessary.
For other downloaded files, manually copy them to your PC.

Thanks Simon, I expected as much, but obviously preferred to avoid reset if there was anything else I could try (particularly if someone else had already suffered the same problem).
Fortunately I do already use various sync/backups including Google+, my email uses IMAP so will automatically get sorted, so shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
I just need to thoroughly review everything on the phone and ensure I can backup everything really important, and restore where possible.
Thanks for the link to the Helium app. I’ll see what that covers and include that in the mix.
I’ll post back on how I get on and any issues.
