Hi, I have a dual sim Moto G Gen 1, running Lollipop. I have Sim 1 as my voice/data/text and the Sim 2 as voice/text only. No data plan for Sim 2, it is only for voice/text use if I can’t get a connection on Sim 1 (as it’s with another service provider).
My problem is, both are pre-paid Sims and Sim 2 (has as I said, No data plan) is for emergency only.
But, if ( as happened recently ) somehow Sim 1 gets disabled, then Sim 2 is used without my knowing about it. Then I used up ALL the money and only then was I alerted to the fact Sim 2 was used.Question is …. How do I permanently disable Sim 2 from data? I have had a good look and can’t see how. I hope there is a way. ( I already had Sim 1 set as the Sim for data, that didn’t work )
Thanks in advance for any time spent helping me out here.
Cheers, Graham -

In the dual SIM settings, you can specify one for data.
Also, for pre-paid SIM cards without expensive data plan, you should turn off mobile data globally and turn on only when you need it.

… thanks, but, as I said * I already had Sim 1 set as the Sim for data, that didn’t work * as soon as whatever disabled Sim 1 …. it used Sim 2 for Data till the money ran out.

my pre-paid plan is $19 month and includes unlimited texts 100 minutes voice and 500MB of data. That has been enough for the last year, in fact I don’t usually use it all up. So, I shouldn’t need to turn it off. I just need a way to stop Sim 2 EVER being used for data.
Selecting which Sim to use for data SHOULD do it …. but it doesn’t. It cost me $20 to find that out. -

In that case, you can simply call the phone company to disable mobile data (they may call it GPRS or whatever) for SIM card 2. It should be free and the SIM card 2 will then never use mobile data.

Thanks Simon, that sounds like a good idea, so obvious I never thought of it. Perfect solution. Thanks again
