Moto G7

Official Moto G7 user manual

You can download (or read online) the official Moto G7 user manual (in PDF) for Moto G7, Moto G7 Plus, Moto G7 Play, and Moto G7 Power.

If you read on your Moto G phone (or any Android Phones), you do not need any apps to read these PDF files because the PDF reader is preinstalled on all Moto G phones.  If you need a PDF reader with more options, you may try the official Adobe Acrobat PDF Reader app.

You can also print them if you really need a hardcopy. Motorola, like other smartphone manufacturers,  does not offer a hardcopy of the user guide for their phones.

Please note, these official Moto G7 user guides are for Moto G7 (Moto G 2019) and its three siblings (Moto G7 Play, Moto G7 Power, and Moto G7 Plus).

For other Moto G phones, you may check other pages: Moto G6 (Moto G 2018) user manuals, Moto G5 (Moto G 2017) user manuals, Moto G4 (Moto G 2016) user manuals, Moto G3 (Moto G 2015) user manuals, Moto G 2nd Gen (Moto G 2014) user manuals, Moto G (Moto G 2013) user manuals.

Although Moto G7, G7 Plus, G7 Play, and G7 Power share many common features and configurations, the difference is also obvious as explained in this post.

So, the user guides are listed for each model individually. You should use the user guide corresponding to the G7 model you are using.

  • My partner just got an iPhone 11. I have a Motorola G7. She doesn't hear any notification when I text her. But she hears a ringtone when I call her. What should I check in Settings to try to fix the text issue?

    • If she recieved the messages, then it is just caused by notification settings of the iPhone. If not, she need to make sure the iMessage is set up properly on the iPhone.

  • When I try to log on several sites I'm told that I have to enter a code that will be sent to me by SMS. But when I retrieve the code I don't know how to get back to the page where I'm supposed to enter the code. I have a Moto G7 Power. Please help!

    • You should go back to the Recents/overview screen and continue from where you left.

The way to access the Recents screen depends on the navigation method you selected:
      1. if you are using three navigation buttons, tap the button on the right side of the Home button to access the Recents screen. You can then tap the thumbnail to re-open the corresponding app.
      2. if you are using two buttons (no buttons on the right side of the Home button), you can swipe upwards from the bottom of the screen (or from the Home button) to open the Recents screen.

  • How do I turn off my nght lighting feature on my g7? I don't want it changing to black and white mode please help mye

    • First, night light does not change the display to black and white. If your screen turns black and white, it is very likely due to other settings.

You can disable Night Light in Settings -- Display--Night light. You can set the schedule to None.

  • On G7 power I do not get notification of an incoming file using bluetooth so transfer fails
    but sending files works ok

    • A read receipt is only available for MMS. But the Messages app in recent Moto G devices removed the settings for MMS.

So, you can only enable the delivery report. In the messages app, tap the menu key (3 vertical dots on the top right, right to the search bar), tap Settings, tap Advanced. You can enable Delivery report.

    • For ringtones, they are always saved in the internal storage.

For music, you can copy the music files to the SD card. If you download music using any music apps, then you need to check the settings inside the music app. There is usually an entry for you to specify the storage location.

For photos, in the camera app, there is a storage option in the camera settings. You can set it to SD card.

    • You just copy the video file from your phone to the PC. Then you can use Lightworks to edit it.

There are many ways to copy videos from Moto G7 to the PC, for example:

      • Use a USB cable
      • Through Google Photos/Google Drive
      • Use a USB thumdrive.
    • Very likely, you hold the volume down keys AND the power button. You should hold the power button only.

  • How do you get the keyboard microphone to talk text messages for you? I have to type every message and it is annoying, that is why I upgraded my phone in the first place. I have the Moto G7 Optimo Maxx

    • It's voice typing. You just need to enable Google Voice typing in language and input settings. (It is probably enabled by default) Then when using the Gboard, you can find the microphone icon on the top right of the keyboard.

    • If you can place calls (make outgoing calls) with the SIM cards, then it is due to the SIM card settings. You set the call forwarding to the voicemail for this SIM card.

You call your phone company to cancel the call forwarding to voice mail, or set it to forward to the voicemail only when it is unreachable.

For most carriers, you can also set it in the Phone app. Open the Phone app, tap the menu key (3 vertical dots) near top right, tap Settings-- calls --call forwarding.

    • Of course, you can.

It is under Settings--Apps & Notifications --Advanced --Notifications --Do not disturb -- schedule.
