  • hi simon,
today i downlaod HD Video song via uc browser, but after completed downloading i am unable to find video in my phone(moto g 2nd gen),where is stored the song please help

    • In the UC browser, tap the menu key (bottom right), tap settings (in the 2 second page in the bottom), tap download settings. You can find the default the location and you you can change it.

By default, the download folder is in the internal storage/UCDownloads.

  • Oh I've got 3g connection now. Thank u. You are right this area is not ccovered with 3g. I went to another area and I got 3g network there.

    • Is 3g data enabled for your sim card?

Did you assign one sim card for mobile data in settings - dual sim settings?

      • Ya I've selected one sim card for data in dual sim settings and I've enabled 3g in preferred 3g network. But use it shows 2g data.

        • Probably the area is not covered by 3G network. Also, check with the phone company to make sure 3G data is enabled in your SIM card.

          • Oh sorry I didn't understand (Also, check with the phone company to make sure 3G data is enabled in your SIM card) what should I check. Plz reply.

  • Hi Simon: I have 3G connection for mobile data(tatadocomo Sim) on my motog 2nd gen. But the connection shows at best an E (indoors) or at few times H/H+ outdoors. Connectivity is also poor in H/H+ status. The same Sim and connection was working absolutely fine on my Samsung grand and samsung s duos for last one year.
I have tried all permutations n combinations...switching the sims, putting off WiFi, all settings for network etc etc
On WiFi the connectivity is OK.
    Any solution?
    Thanks in advance

    • This is mainly due to antana design and network signal. You cannot do much. Occasionally, you can play with network type. But if may mess up the settings.

  • I am using moto g 2 gen ph...can anyone tell me how can i share my music throught bluetooth..i am not getting any option..and second prob is ..is there is any refresh option while using crome..??

    • For sharing through Bluetooth, you need an app to initiate it (it you are receiving, you don;t need). You can try SuperBeam. There are many similar apps in the play store.

For chrome browser, you cna tap the 3 dots in the top right, the third icon in the top (between bookmark and 3 vertical dots) is refresh button.

  • Today I've updated Motorola Assist. I've set the address but could not figure out how to put it to work. As it fail to announce the caller or read sms. Any suggestions?

  • 1. How can I delete a song from my moto g ?

    2. How can I delete a file that I received via Bluetooth ? (Web page link file)

  • Hello I cannot transfer .apk files via usb from PC, can transfer music and videos though. Is it like that or do I have some issues with my phone?

  • Hi simon,
Its been 6 months am using moto g. From 3rd month am getting 'restricted access changed' message.its cumg aftr inserting bsnl micro sim which was cut by me. After dat i totaly removed my sim n took another bsnl sim. But the message was displayg again. When i keep only reliance sim it was not displayg.but now keeping only bsnl sim...it displays again. I also reset my phone but am getg same msg 'restricted access changed' emergency calls are blocked. May i know its the problm about bsnl network or any thing.when ever i change wifi n mobile data on/off and making any call...it displays.plz help me simon.

    • it sounds the problem is related to bsnl sim. You can check with the company on whether Moto G is supported.

  • Hi Simon,

Both of my simcards won't connect to the mobile network at the same time. The company that I bought the phone from tells me that the phone is standby only and that only one sim can work at any one time. I believe I have read that both sims can be connected but when a call comes through the sim not receiving the call will go on standby.

    Can you clarify please?

    Cheers
    Toby

    • Dual standby means both can be in standby (waiting for incoming calls) simultaneously. But if one sim card is engaged on voice call, the other will be disconnected and not available.

But if one card is using 3g mobile data, the other card should still be in standby mode (available if someone dials this number) .

  • I can't download the files from media fire..... I trying this link (http://www.mediafire.com/view/sr0h50w9zkj71gx/Kanimaikkul_Chirai_Vaipen.pdf), (http://www.mediafire.com/download/seepnn6e6518abp/BK2.pdf) to download the PDF files through my moto g.... But it didn't download.... it shows the msg box.... "The file cannot be downloaded because it is not a valid PDF files.... But in my PC the file will be downloaded..... I want to download the files in my mobile.....

    • The first link is for online read. It is not for direct downloading. You MUST open it in your browser. Once you browser load the page, tap the menu key (3 vertical dots in the top right), check Request desktop site (because the mobile site version does not provide download link). The page should be reloaded and now in the top you have the download link (like in PC), then tap download to enter download page.

The second link does not work.

  • I selected the Wi-fi only option by mistake when downloading the Kitkat update.I dont have a WIfi network available so I want to download it via my mobile data network. But I cant revert back to that setting. Please help !

    • Settings--Apps, tap menu key ( 3 vertical dots in top right ), tap reset app preferences.

BTW, I think Moto G use whatever connection you have to download updates. It gives warning if you are suing mobile data (which usually is slow and unreliable).

  • I download the story books on mediafire.... But I can't download any stories (PDF files) from it.... I also tried some other websites.... I can't download it ....

    • What error did you get?

You may download from your PC then transfer them to your Moto G.

Anyway, as mentioned in other comments, for PDF file, you can tap and hold the link, then choose save link to. But for such file sharing sites, the file location may be hidden and it may not work.

    • Where did you want to download from? In your Chrome browser, you can tap and hold the link and choose save link as, not just tap the link.

    • Hotspot is for you to share your mobile data connection with other devices through wifi.

You need enable it in your Moto G at Settings--More--Tethering &portable hotspot. Other devices will then can connect to your phone through WiFi.

  • Occasionally my Moto G deletes contacts. I am not sure why this is happening? Can you help please?

    • I don't think Moto G delete contacts automatically. But your contact us sync with your Google account. Any changes made there will be synced with your phone. I'd you don't want to sync with Google , you can disable the sync for contacts. But this is not recommended.

  • Some times when I call or when I receive any calls to my moto g its not hearing and mic is also not working but call is in running, due to this I have to restart my mobile often. Can u give some solution regarding this plz.

    • This was reported by some owners. There are no known solutions. What you can do is trying to backup your data and do a factory data reset.

You may also send the phone for Motorola to check it.

  • I have a Moto G with Android 4.4.2. My concern is that the Call Recorder does work properly on the phone. I can not record call both ways. I an only record the interaction at my end and not what the other person is saying.

    • Unless you root the phone, you cannot recorder the other side (you can only record your side).

This is due to some legal (and privacy) reason. In most countries, it is illegal to record the phone call without consent from the other party.

Of course, you can use the phone speaker, and record with other recording devices (e.g., another smartphone).

    • No, you cannot. You can only change font size... Try other launchers if you really need a new font.

  • What is SMS storage limit in case of moto g? Is it dependent on number of SMS or space occupied by SMS.

    • I think it's limited by the space you have. In some old versions of android, there is a 500 limit.

Anyway, a good practice is to backup your sms regularly (there are many free apps) and keep a copy in your backup drive.

  • how to save a Birthday reminder in this moto g mobile i need some thing where i can save it so tat i get the B`day or other reminder wat to do for tat

    • You need use third party launchers, e.g., nova, to hide apps on Moto G. The stock launcher doesn't support this feature.

For pre installed apps, you can disable them (and therefore hide these apps).

  • Is it possible to charge this mobile by connecting it into a USB port of a desktop or a laptop? I tried it charging but not able to. The battery icon shows as its connected and charging but unfortunately its not charging the battery.

    • It is possible. But very likely, the laptop cannot provide sufficient current. Normally, PC should be able to provide higher current. If you don't use it when connecting to the PC, you should see the increase of the battery percentage after 10-15mins.

  • Everything looks good, but the call history or dialing list looks completely white, the look and feel is so bad there... is there any setting to do it some colorful ?

  • i can't send any apps or file to send using bluetooth, my moto g was default in kitkat...

    • Did you get any specific message? Sometimes, the problems can be caused by the other party.

  • When I unclick "vibrate on touch" under sound in settings, then vibration stops at operation. But in case of using whatsapp or messaging or find a mobile number, vibration starts when I touch keyboard. Is there any way to stop this vibration in moto g??

    • You need disable it in Settings--Language & input, tap setting icon for Google keyboard, uncheck "vibrate on keypress".

      • Thanks for info. It really works. I would like to discuss few problems with you. 1. WiFi direct doesn't work in moto g. If its true then why option has been given? 2. I am unable to access my pen drive using otg cable. Kindly help me in same. Thanks in advance.

        • For wifi direct, you may try to use the free app of Super beam.

Did you check the otg cable?

  • i'm unable to connect my motog mobile to pc..i was trying to install motorola device manager..it is not being installed in my laptop of win 7 version
    wat should i do???any suggestions

    • in some regions, USB cable maybe not included.Usually if there is a charger, then usb cable will not be included.

    • Moto G does not have a native file manager. Actually, all new Motorola phones do not have file managers.

You have at least two ways to manager the files:
1). On Moto G, you can install third-party file managers to view and manage files/folders. ES File manager is simple to use and works with Moto G nicely. And it is free. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop

2). You can also connect your Moto G to a PC using the USB cable. Then you can manage files on your Moto G from the PC.

  • How can I tell which network handset is locked to (service provider lock), without having to try lots of different sims?

    • You can call local Motorola service centre, and they will ask you some info from about device page and then tell you the correct carrier.

  • I installed VLC apps from google play store. transferred a movie from laptop which was in VLC format. after watching the movie in phone, now I want to delete it. how?

    • You can connect your Moto G to any PC and delete the file.

In a few regions, there is a stock file browser with which you can delete your video files.

        • You can delete your own files, not the system files. You can always do this from pc when the phone is connect to it with USB.

You can also use some file managers, for example, ES file manager, to do the job.

          • You can long press the movie thumbnail in vlc and delete or just use ES File Manager or FX File manager from the play store.

But if you want to go really cool, try Airdroid.

  • as my point of vew one thing that disatisfied me,the ear phone provided with moto-G,it hert the ear,the design was old one, it should be roundshape due to which it gives comfort for listening more time whithout pain.

    • Agree. Motorola should give better accessories.

Anyway, the accessories are region-dependent. A few distributors actually bundles better headsets. A few also bundle a charger.
